First of all, thanks to everyone for their comments on my last post. If you're tuning in late, I wrote earlier in the week that I was considering discontinuing the blog. Real life, as opposed to cyber life, was taking up a lot of my time, and I needed to deal with that.
I appreciate all of the advice, all of the "I'll miss yous", all of the "do what's good for you" thoughts. They were very lovely. And now that I've babbled on long enough, here's my decision...
I'm going to stay.
My posts won't be as frequent as they have been. I'm just going to post whenever I feel like it, and whenever I have something to share with you. Sometimes that will be a lot, other times that won't be so much.
As for commenting, I think I'm only going to read X number of blogs per day; that way I won't feel so overwhelmed. And if I need to skip a post or two in my reader to take a day off, so be it. Just know that I won't forget about you.
This seems to be a theme resonating throughout a few blogs I read. Some have said that blogging has become like work; others have said that reading and catching up with challenges has become like work. I have yet to rediscover the joy of reading; I know I will, but I just need a little more time. You'll see my book reviews again soon.
I hope you all have a wonderful, blessed New Year's, and a terrific 2010. I'm headed down to BFF's for his annual shindig. Yes, if you've been following that storyline, BFF and I have patched things up and are back to our regular selves. We went to the city a couple of days ago and it was as if we had seen each other yesterday. We picked up right where we left off.
Oh, and one more thing...be SAFE tonight! I just looked out my window and it's already started snowing! WTF?!?!

Happy New Year! We have snow too, for crap's sake.
I was bummed to read your last post just now, but am uplifted with this one. I've experienced the whole blogging=work thing over the last few months. I've had to re-examine WHY I blog-try to get back to my origional intent as well as embrace some of the "new" aspects as to why I blog. And I 've had to say just screw it to feeling obligated to read so many others and leave so many platitudes in their comments. The "blogging without obligation" thing is spot on. You may loose some readers, but that's the way it goes. It can be so fickle-well, if your not checking out and commenting on MY blog, I'm not reading YOURS. Oh, well! Now you're left with the people who really READ YOU FOR YOUR CONTENT AND WHO YOU ARE. Not to have your pic in their FOLLOWERS box or another hit on their sitemeter. This opens up so much space for YOU. Hooray!
I'm not big on shutting blogs down-they are always great for reference and you never know when you'll have something to share. if people truly dig you, they'll be there to hear you. I've found that out with my politicl blog. I'm always shocked to see so many visitors arrive when I do the rare post....
Anyhoo....HaPpY NeW YeAr!!!!!
P.S. I C U R on Facebook! U R kewl, too, LOL! I'm on FB if ya wanna hook up, dude! Just email me
Kitten: Yay! You're staying!
Have a very Happy and Safe New Year!
Glad you're staying :)
As you know, I COMPLETELY understand wanting to take a break from blogging - I definitely had to break away for awhile. The most important thing I had to learn was I didn't have to post (or read other posts) every single day. It's okay to go MIA for a little while.
Hope you have a very happy New Year!!
I completely understand as I feel the same way about blogging. :-) I've come to the same conclusion that you have...
Happy New Year!
Woohoo!!
I'm glad that you came to a decision that works for you. I hope you have a great New Year celebration. Happy reading in 2010.
I'm so glad that your staying. I have had to start limiting my reading and commenting on other blogs. I was finding that all this blogging was cutting into too much of my reading time. That is why you only see me commenting on your blog occasionally. It sounds like you may have come up with a good solution too.
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
All the best in 2010!
Yay! I'm glad you're staying. I went through this same thing a while back and when I gave myself permission to just write when I wanted to, read blogs when I wanted to, it was fun again! : )
Hooray! I'm happy that you're staying. I know how blogging can be overwhelming at times.
Yay for staying!!! You did it just for me didn't you?
