Entering the 21st century

The regulars 'round here know that I have occasionally griped about my lack of DVR. I have coveted this for a very long time. Many of my friends have TiVo and rave about it. Sister Kitten says that DVR has revolutionized her TV viewing: "It's great! I've got 30-something episodes of Law and Order that I can watch any time I want!" (Or was it an L&O spinoff? Yo no se).

Anyhoo, a couple of weeks ago, I called Comcast to gripe about my bill. Why was I paying more money every three months when they keep taking channels off my lineup? I have the analog package with the extended basic lineup. No fancy digital, no premium channels.

Well, long story short, I'm getting a new cable package this Thursday. The cable guy's coming to visit. I'm getting a free box, and a two-year deal that will get me digital cable and HBO for a far less expensive price than what I'm paying right now.

And...the best part?

Free DVR with the deal.

I'm so frakkin' excited about this. You have no idea.

It's too bad I won't fully enjoy it immediately...I'm starting another housesitting gig on Friday. HOWEVER, I'm setting up the DVR to record the shows I'm gonna miss while I'm away. Then I can enjoy my shows when I come home!

Dear God, is this what my life has come to?

We have Direct TV and my husband LOVES recording shows and watching them later. He does a "season pass" and never misses an episode of his favorite shows.

I know what you mean... I didn't even have cable until 3-4 years ago, and now my life revolves around the DVR. At one point, we actually had two of them. Just to be safe?

I love my DVR!! When we hooked up with WOW and part of the package included a DVR, I was actually jumping up and down!!

Only bad thing is the DVR is almost filled to capacity from Fall to late Spring.

Woo hoo!! Congrats! A DVR is fantastic! Best thing to hit television I think! I love not having to watch commercials. To be able to watch shows when I want to watch them. To not have to remember what "tape" they were on, etc. You'll love it!
