Friday cat blogging

I'm always amazed at how animals seem to know more about our psyches than we give them credit for.

Take last night, for instance. The cats were snuggled up tightly against my body all night long. One cat was at my feet, the other beside my head. It was a rough week at work, and I was feeling moody and stressed. I truly think they were keeping an eye on me, since I've been going to bed earlier than usual (how's 8:30 PM, Kittens?), and I've been waking up in the middle of the night.

This morning I woke up at 4 AM and didn't bother going back to sleep; I was afraid that I would fall into a deep sleep five minutes before my alarm was scheduled to go off at 5:30, so I just stayed awake.

Mag and Gab knew something was up when they saw that Mommy was awake that early. They followed me the whole time that I was up.

Either that, or they sensed that I was going away again. This week, I am housesitting again. I'm staying overnight at a friend's house while she's on a cruise. She's got two labs and a cat, and I have to make sure they are fed, let out, and receive their medications. Now if you're wondering how I can housesit with two cats at home, don't worry. I'm not a neglectful pet owner. My daily life takes me back home almost every day, so I get to spend time with my girls for at least a copule of hours a day.

I like to think that my girls knew I was in a funk, and that they were just keeping an eye out on me. I love them soooooo much; it kills me that I'm not with them much over the next week.

At least I get to visit them every day.

Kitties are so amazingly intuitive sometimes. I love that! :-)

So weird-I had the same thought about my dogs yesterday. They just know me. I took a sick and spent all day in bed and they were happy as could be to stay in bed with me!

I have heard that cats are sensitive to their owners feelings. I haven't had many cats in my life, but I've heard some pretty amazing stories, most of which, unfortunately won't come to me at the moment. Have fun housesitting.

I do think animals are totally tuned in with their owners' moods! They know something is bothering you and they are trying to help!

And what a good friend you are to housesit! : )

I really do think that animals sense human emotion.
